Paving the way for low-carbon hydrogen: 2 GW and counting

Copper Consultancy is at the forefront of the UK’s emerging hydrogen economy. Supporting more than 2 GW of low-carbon hydrogen development, we’re delivering projects that could cut up to 3 million tonnes of industrial carbon dioxide emissions.

Low-carbon hydrogen: it’s more than just molecules. It’s an opportunity to build competitive advantage in a net zero world.

That is why we’re committed to getting low-carbon hydrogen facilities built

So far, we’ve helped pave the way for more than 2 GW of low-carbon hydrogen production – that’s over 20% of the UK’s 2030 target and enough clean energy to power most of Manchester and Birmingham combined.

But success is about more than numbers. It’s about creating long-lasting value through strategies that are nationally significant with local relevance.

Hydrogen South West

Copper is deploying strategic communications and branding to successfully create Hydrogen South West, a new hydrogen cluster to unite industry around a shared vision. It is building the brand and executing an integrated campaign, generating significant interest and securing investment. Since 2022, Copper has expanded the consortium to ten core members, including major international brands, and has engaged over 250 companies at network events, fostering a substantial online presence with 1700+ LinkedIn followers and hosting influential workshops with government figures. Ultimately, the plan is to establish the South West as a centre of excellence for hydrogen skills, effectively positioning the region at the forefront of the hydrogen economy.

HyNet North West

HyNet’s first consultation phase demanded a shift from technical jargon to community-focused communication. Copper redefined its strategy, creating a refreshed brand and local-first narrative that built trust around the UK’s leading CCS and hydrogen project. Through clear visuals, an engaging website, and targeted media and social campaigns, we turned a complex story into one of local investment in jobs, safety and sustainability. The results were transformative: engagement soared by over 8,000% on Facebook, and positive public feedback focused on collaboration, not controversy, establishing HyNet as a transparent, trusted force for decarbonisation in North West England and North Wales.

Tower Group

Copper developed and delivered a comprehensive brand strategy and public relations and stakeholder engagement support for Tower Group, a rapidly growing catalyst in renewable (green) hydrogen development. We defined the company’s core vision, mission and purpose, clearly communicating these through its website. We executed impactful media engagements and activities to promote Tower Group’s key hydrogen projects. These efforts enabled Tower Group to develop full value chain services and create essential renewable energy assets, including hydrogen hubs and bespoke systems, primarily across the South West of England, effectively addressing critical industry and community challenges.
