Challenge

Tillbridge Solar was proposed in a contentious area alongside three other solar projects with varying reputations. To secure support and build a social licence to operate, the project needed to distinguish itself through trust and transparency.

Approach

Copper introduced a co-design approach, delivering:

  • community workshops to explore local aspirations, concerns and opportunities
  • open dialogue around site selection and project benefits
  • a feedback loop via a published workshop report, showing how input shaped the evolving scheme.

Value delivered

  • Fostered meaningful engagement and improved local understanding
  • Demonstrated transparency and responsiveness, strengthening community trust
  • Positioned Tillbridge Solar as a positive, community-focused project, helping pave the way towards consent
