Challenge
Codling Wind Park needed to submit over 200 documents, totalling 11,000 pages and 4 million words, for one of Ireland’s largest offshore wind farm applications. The main challenge was ensuring technical robustness, legal compliance and editorial quality. Without all three, they risked inconsistencies, regulatory scrutiny and disengagement from stakeholders.
Approach
Copper Consultancy’s editorial experts, led by senior editor Jenny Williams, provided early editorial involvement and managed a large team of proofreaders to ensure clarity, consistency and accuracy. Processes included clear templates, author guides, editorial check-ins and prioritisation of public-facing materials. Close collaboration between Copper and Codling helped streamline workflows and reduce rework.
Value delivered
The submission was delivered on time and to a very high standard. Copper’s involvement freed Codling’s technical and legal experts to focus on core tasks. The result was a robust, legally compliant and accessible application, which the team felt confident in.
Callum Draper, EIA Manager, said: “If you don’t invest in editorial quality upfront, you could pay for it later – whether that’s through delays, rework or lost confidence in your submission.”
