Challenge
Clearstone required strategic consultation and communications support for a new battery energy storage system (BESS) site in Sussex. The goal was to inform local communities, manage sensitivities and build early acceptance and advocacy in a region where large-scale energy infrastructure can face resistance.
Approach
Copper is leading on consultation and communications for the project, providing end-to-end support including:
- planning and managing a recent public consultation
- developing clear, accessible messaging to explain the project’s benefits
- engaging with stakeholders and the local community to listen, respond to concerns and encourage constructive dialogue
- building trust and support to smooth the pathway to planning consent.
Value delivered
- Successfully delivered a local consultation that clearly communicated the role of BESS in energy resilience and decarbonisation
- Helped build understanding and early advocacy for the proposal
- Strengthened Clearstone’s position as a responsible developer focused on transparency and community engagement
