Challenge
To provide design and print services, from inception through public launch to non-statutory and statutory consultation, for Connah’s Quay Low Carbon Power, a proposed new gas-fired power station with carbon capture technology that will eventually generate 1.38 GW of power, to help the project secure a Development Consent Order (DCO).
Copper had to produce digital and print stakeholder materials in Welsh and English that:
- advertised the development and explained its carbon capture technology
- encouraged local community
- participation, feedback and support
- were aligned to Uniper’s strict visual style guidelines
- could be redesigned and delivered at short notice.
Approach
Copper designed a suite of bilingual digital and print materials to explain the project’s importance in the energy transition, to advertise and support a series of in-person consultation events, and to generate and analyse meaningful stakeholder feedback. Materials included:
- consultation brochures, site maps and infographics introducing the proposed development and explaining its carbon capture technology
- consultation adverts, newsletters, “Sorry we missed you” letters and regular correspondence with hundreds of local stakeholders
- name badges, signage, 11 consultation boards and 8 educational boards
- digital and print feedback forms.
Value delivered
- The project has successfully progressed through several stages of consultation and is close to achieving its DCO.
- Copper redesigned materials within 24 hours and, on one occasion, drove for several hours to hand-deliver vital, last-minute assets.
- Copper closely monitored project and time costs and held regular progress and review meetings with Uniper.
- Copper’s quality control team, all CIEP-accredited technical editors, ensured the documents were on-brand, consistent and error-free.
