Challenge
To create accessible and engaging materials to support The Droves Solar Farm, a proposed renewable energy project with battery energy storage. These materials had to:
- build stakeholder advocacy
- convey the technical aspects of the project
- create a distinct brand identity, built around IGP’s in-house guidelines, that focused on the site’s biodiversity and ancient heritage
- support its Development Consent Order (DCO) process.
Approach
Copper designed digital and print materials to advertise and support a series of in-person stakeholder consultation events that focused on encouraging local community buy-in while also generating, collecting and analysing feedback about the project. Materials included:
- leaflets and long-form newsletters for distribution to more than 5,000 addresses
- various booklets describing the project and explaining how stakeholders could participate in the consenting process
- 14 pull-up exhibition panels, annotated maps, and digital and print feedback forms for targeted consultation
- banner produced with the developer of a proposed neighbouring solar farm to help consultees distinguish between, and understand how to participate in, both consultations.
Value delivered
- Copper helped to build local advocacy by communicating how stakeholder feedback was continually incorporated into the project’s design.
- Copper’s in-house design team developed a distinct identity for the project that emphasised its biodiversity and ancient heritage while remaining aligned to IGP’s strict brand guidelines.
- Our quality control team, all CIEP-accredited technical editors, ensured the production of high-quality, consistent and error-free documents.
- The project has successfully progressed through consultation and is preparing to submit its application for a DCO.
