Aviation is a challenging sector to decarbonise. Currently, there are few viable alternatives to using high-energy-density liquid fuel. But these fuels can be made more sustainably, and flights from Europe must use an increasing proportion of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which is driving SAF demand. Shell Catalysts & Technologies wanted to communicate to refinery customers the relative merits of its suite of bio- and synthetic-SAF technology pathways. At the same time, Shell Low Carbon Solutions and Shell Aviation Fuels needed to explain the advantages of SAF and its book-and-claim trading system to airlines.
