Copper Consultancy has been crowned the winner of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) ‘Specialist Consultancy of the Year’ Excellence Award. The news comes as Copper celebrates 25 years at the forefront of infrastructure communications.
The CIPR Excellence Awards ceremony was held virtually and featured more than 30 categories celebrating stand-out achievements from individuals, teams and agencies over the last 12 months.
The judging panel hailed Copper’s achievements over the last 12 months, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, as “simply stunning”:
“Copper Consultancy kickstarted an ambitious and bold growth plan in 2018, which is paying dividends now, big time. A real specialist in the infrastructure space, Copper implemented a radical restructure of the business around new practice areas, introduced new systems, opened a new office and put people at the heart, with their Copper for You programme. With a 100% client satisfaction rating and over half of the last 12 months’ revenue coming from new clients, they’ve smashed all expectations through the pandemic. Achieving what they have, at this time in their agency cycle and with everything happening in the world right now, is simply stunning.”
The award recognises Copper’s growth, driven by a number of key project wins, including Highways England’s the Lower Thames Crossing and A303 Stonehenge construction, low carbon and hydrogen energy project, HyNet and further work with Cadent, Scottish Power and RWE.
The company also launched a new economic development practice, which supports public sector bodies, local authorities, developers and investors, on policy challenges and strategy development, and a dedicated design, brand and digital communications practice in 2020, which has been formed to offer more impactful and engaging design for major infrastructure companies and projects.
Ben Heatley, Managing Partner at Copper, said: “Despite the challenges of the last year or so, we have continued to grow into new and exciting parts of the sector and have adapted to offer the highest level of services to our clients. We are delighted to receive this award from the CIPR which recognises our progress as a business as we continue to play an important role in helping the public understand the need for essential national infrastructure.
“This award is only made possible thanks to our brilliant and talented team who have a wealth of skills that help us to cement ourselves as the UK’s leading infrastructure communications consultancy.”
The CIPR is the world’s only Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners in the UK and overseas, with nearly 10,000 members. The CIPR Excellence Awards are the PR industry’s leading awards.
